Quelite “keh-lee-teh” Farm
Quelite Farm & Foods is a small farm and homestead on 10 acres in beautiful Cedar Creek, Texas. We hope to grow and prepare beautiful foods that nourish and educate, all the while honoring and building the land we are so lucky to steward.
The Spanish term, ‘Quelite,’ originates in the nahuatl ‘quilitl,’ which designates a vast number of wild, edible plants. Think lambsquarters, chard, watercress, and amaranth. Quelites have been incorporated as nutritional foods and medicines for millennia.
Cameron, Yvonne, and Truett moved out to Cedar Creek in March 2021 from East Austin and got right to work preparing the land for production. Since then, we’ve established about ¼ acre of growing space, planted a few young fruit trees, built a high tunnel, and added laying hens and honeybees. We have plenty more to do, and we’re really thankful to have friends and family who have supported us along the way! Thanks for coming to visit!
We’ll keep working to improve our practice, learning from techniques ancient and novel, with the goal of building beautiful, nutritious soil and limiting as much as possible our negative footprint on the ecosystem local and global.
Beyond simply growing food, we strive to share techniques and recipes that get the most out of seasonal, fresh or preserved foods. We sell direct to consumers through a Community Supported Agriculture program and partner with restaurants who share our appreciation of seasonal, local foods.
